Lamoni Chronicle - Special Edition

The city has worked with freelance editor Gary Rees for many years on what is commonly tabbed "Around Lamoni". Rees came to the city months ago with the idea of another publication. The idea was run by the Lamoni City Council, who so generously voted to fund the project with Hotel/Motel tax dollars.

For several weeks, preparations were made on a "Special Edition" of the Lamoni Chronicle. The purpose of the publication is to inform new students, faculty, and residents to the community as well as visitors what the city has to offer. Also involved in the groundwork were: Cierra Fountain - Decatur County Development Director, Alysha VanLaar - Lamoni Area Chamber of Commerce President, and Doug Foster - Mayor.

Chronicle owner Beth Higdon was immediately positive and readily involved The Chronicle staff when she heard about the idea. From there, it was up to The Chronicle's Editor, Chase Wood Wagoner, to lay out the issue, which she did in a very professional manner.

This partially colored copy has dozens of articles that serve to give a good understanding of our community, complete with a map of most of the points of interest.

The publication will is available now and can be updated from time to time for redistribution. "This was a great collaboration of many different groups, we're proud of the result and are anxious to share it with newcomers", said Barb Stuck, City Administrator.
