In February 2025 the Lamoni Trails Commission submitted a grant application to the Paint Iowa Beautiful Grant. A Lamoni native and 2021 graduate of Lamoni High School, Cray is also a volunteer with the Lamoni Fire Department and a very busy Criminal Justice major at Graceland University. The 11th annual Bethany's Race was held on May 6th. 49 participants turned out in spite of the rain and hail that came about an hour before the race. Bethany Gruich was a beloved member of the community who was diagnosed with glioblastoma (a rare brain cancer) in October of 2012, just shy of her 16th birthday. The city has worked with freelance editor Gary Rees for many years on what is commonly tabbed "Around Lamoni". Rees came to the city months ago with the idea of another publication. The Joann Bjorland family donated a bench and picnic table in her honor. Memorial donation funds were used to purchase these items. The fixtures were ordered through Bohlmann Quality Products out of Denison, Iowa and were delivered to Central Park on July 25th. Fountain graduated in 2019 from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.
