The Community Center Has a New Look

The Lamoni Public Works Department, along with Community Center Director Tim Brunner, installed new Lamoni Community Center signage on Highway 69. The new sign is designed to match the current visual identity of the Police Station and City Hall. This upgrade provides a consistent appearance of city signage and also improves visibility from the highway.

The Lamoni City Council pledged $700 in local option sales tax funds to cover the cost of printing the sign and providing materials for its framing and concrete installation. “We appreciate that the Council provided the necessary financial support for the new Community Center sign and installation especially because it ensured that existing recreation programs remain fully funded,” said Community Center Director Tim Brunner.

Through a Trees Forever’s Trails Visioning grant, a committee was formed which included Lamoni Recreational Trails Commission members, community volunteers, and a Trees Forever design specialist who met to develop plans to enhance the existing trail system along with standardization of signage throughout the city. The signage for public spaces such as parks or civic buildings utilized the same style of sign as North Park’s only changing the name to what is being identified such as City Hall instead of North Park.

"It’s so nice to bring the Community Center’s ‘look’ up to date with the same consistent design as the Police Station and City Hall," said Barb Stuck, City Administrator / Clerk. “Whenever we change a city sign, we want to follow the guidelines of that original project – which has been since 2016!”
