City Recognizes Special Edition

November 15, 2022

(Pictured: Mayor Doug Foster presents a framed copy of the "Special Edition" of the Lamoni Chronicle to Gary Rees.)

It has just been a couple of months since a Special Issue of The Lamoni Chronicle was published, and it has already had a second printing. The Special Issue has six pages of the best of Lamoni and Decatur County and is intended for guests, visitors, and prospective businesses. It leads off with an overview of Lamoni. Other articles feature Graceland University and Lamoni Community Schools , history, recreational and outdoor activities, Hy-Vee, volunteerism, travel, and healthcare. Page six has a full-sized map of all things Lamoni.

Gary Rees along with Cierra Fountain - Decatur County Executive Director, Alsysha Van Laar - Lamoni Area Chamber of Commerce President, and Barb Stuck - City Administrator / Clerk worked on the newspaper. "Gary has been a pleasure to work with and has been instrumental in this project and getting the word out about our city in his Around Lamoni articles," City Administrator, Barb Stuck said,

"We appreciate Chronicle publisher Beth Higdon for letting us use her newspaper for the special issue along with Chase Wood-Wagoner, Chronicle editor, who laid it out," Stuck said. The city financed the project with hotel/motel funds.

The Special Issue is available at the Welcome Center, Cobblestone Inn & Suites, Rodeway Inn, and places of interest around Lamoni. They are also on hand at City Hall. The publication will be updated from time to time and redistributed. "The Special Edition has been very popular with folks visiting Lamoni," Mayor Doug Foster stated. "We're fortunate to have this available."
