Anthony Cray Graduates the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy
May 09, 2024
The City of Lamoni would like to congratulate newly certified Police Officer – Anthony Cray. A Lamoni native and 2021 graduate of Lamoni High School, Cray is also a volunteer with the Lamoni Fire Department and a very busy Criminal Justice major at Graceland University.
The 313th class of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy at Camp Dodge began in January and graduated April 19th. The 16-week course includes many fitness, driving, weapons, search/seizure, and self-defense trainings as well as Iowa law coursework.
Some of the fun that was had is depicted in the pepper spray photo. Cadets are sprayed and must then fight off an “assailant” before washing off the irritant. This is to simulate something that could take place in the field, where he would need to rely on his training to maintain control of a situation.
If you see Officer Cray out and about, make sure to say hi and congratulate him on a job well done. We’re fortunate to have a home town kid grow up to protect and serve this community.
Lamoni Mayor – Doug Foster said, “With Officer Cray’s graduation, the Lamoni PD is back up to full staffing; something departments nationwide struggle to maintain. We are very proud of this accomplishment and the outstanding service of the entire department.”
