Picnic Anyone?

The picnic tables at the Community Center Plaza got a much-needed refresh this past couple of weeks. The tables had seen better days, with the wood deteriorating and bowing with age. These aren’t your average picnic table, they’re 8 feet long and sit on steel frames. Weighing well over 200 lbs., they require equipment with forks to move them around.
Street staff, Andy Kinder and Curt Shields did a great job of dismantling them and putting on the new lumber. The new pressure treated planks will be sealed later this month to protect them from the elements and guarantee a long life.
Community Center Director – Tim Brunner said, “I’m grateful to the Council for funding this project and I really appreciate the hard work of the Street Staff.”
Mayor Douglas L. Foster added, “This is a great compliment to the area, a known site for community events. They’ll be put to good use for the Volunteer Fair and Lamoni Annual Fall Festival that will be here before you know it.
